I stood in the doorway, my heart hammering so hard against my ribs I could feel every frantic beat echoing in my throat. The air in the room was thick and heavy, charged with the cold silence you’d been carrying all day like a shield. You sat rigidly on the edge of the bed, back turned to me, shoulders drawn tight with tension. Even in your anger, you looked devastatingly beautiful — the soft green tee clinging gently to your curves, the loose beige capris riding low on your hips, and that delicate purple bra strap peeking teasingly from beneath your collar. The sight of you made my chest ache with regret and desire all at once.
I approached slowly, each step deliberate, the floorboards creaking under my weight like a warning. I stopped just behind you, close enough to feel the heat radiating from your body.
